Ballard Farm

West side of Route 116 in Hinesburg about a half mile north of the intersection with CVU Road.

At the time of the photo, Robert and Vera Ballard owned the farm. Their son Tim, and his wife Kay owned the new house in the upper right corner (now occupied by their oldest daughter and her family.) Tim and Kay moved to the main house with the passing of Vera in the early 1990's (Bob passed in the mid-70's.)
There is now another outbuilding and also a pond to the left (west) of the barn. The house had an addition that connected the west end of the house to the garage.
I was one-year-old in the year this was taken, and was there most every day being baby-sat by Vera while my mom worked. Kay is my father's sister.
The beautiful place (and the people in it) represent a little bit of heaven to me, and are a cornerstone in my life.

Hi Tim,
Would you like to share a specific story about growing up there? Can you tell us the types of farming that were done there?
