UPDATE. We have updated this post to reveal the location of our Mystery Monday Photo

This week we had such a great response from Frank Snyder we wanted to use his comment to reveal its location. See his comment below the photo. Great job Frank!

This is the farm where they filmed “Field of Dreams”. We used to live not far from there. The Field of Dreams was one of the places we always took friends and relatives when they came to visit. It’s really cool (the baseball field, not the Iowa weather) in late summer when the corn is tall. You will see cars from all over the U.S. in the parking lot. There’s always an assortment of visitors at the field – there to “have a catch”, hit a few and round the bases, or just sit on the bleachers and take it all in. They do occasionally have local men play a game in the evenings as the “ghost players”. A year or two ago, Kevin Costner and his band (yes, he has a band) had a concert there.

It’s interesting to see a picture of the farm before the movie. The power lines in the upper left part of the picture had to be moved for the movie. They originally ran down the 2nd-3rd base line. The house was modified a little. A bay window was added for the movie so they could see the field better from inside the house.

The baseball field actually sits on two pieces of property. Left and center field has different owners than the farmstead, infield, and right field. And they don’t get along. You will notice that there are two driveways going to the baseball field, and two souvenir stands. More on the feud here: http://www.sportshollywood.com/fodwar.html .

Dyersville, Iowa is on highway 20, about an hour north of Interstate 80. If you were driving through Iowa on I-80, the best route to detour and go to Dyersville is take hwy 61 north from the Quad Cities to Dubuque, then west on 20. If you continue on west, you go through Waterloo and end up at Interstate 35, which take you back to I-80. Pretty much all 4-lane divide highway. Dyersville is also the home of Ertl Toys. They have a farm toy museum in Dyersville.

Well, I guess I will start....and I won't say anything about roof lines and snow....don't want to be laughed out of here again...lol.

OK, seems like we are looking from the North...slightly to the West....slight rolling hills. Very little hedgerows. Lots of buildings.....pretty obvious what they are except the first one bottom of group...almost looks like a bunkhouse with back porch 2nd floor?? Are the pine trees there just for a wind break or some of it for a shaded area for visitors?

I thought that front triangle area might be a visitors parking area, but it looks too much like mowed area, not parking. Is this a place that gives tours? Is it historic? A working farm?...or are just the fields being used. Did someone famous live here and that is why we are seeing it. Wonder what the crops are grown there or is it all for hay.

Is this in Pennsylvania? I am going to stay away from Texas this time....watch, I will have to smack myself. Why are we being shown this photo....it couldn't just be a farm in the middle of a field could it....they wouldn't do that to us would they? Sam...you better have a good reason for me being here stuck looking at this photo all week! LOL

Maybe this farmstead was used in a movie or TV series.

I noticed there is a lot of erosion from rain that drains down to that creek, which I figure is a dry creek only running after rains.

I don't think any stock is raised around here, don't see fences. Wheat, Hay, Cotton,.....I am looking to the west more than PENN. my first guess.....just don't know if it even matters what is grown here....must have something to do with the farmstead.....who lived here, or what thing went on here.

Come on someone....Randy! ....Don't let me be the only one fret over this.....don't be so shy. I make a lot of dumb guesses, but at least I try to play the game!

I'd say it was a Federal land state from the orthogonal roads that don't follow the terrain.
Pine or cedar trees? That may limit the location also.
And yes, since this is so nondescript, there has to be something unqiue about it to stand out. The other pics were a distinct structure, or a written clue or the type of structure.

OK, I am throwing in the towel early unless we get a HINT early.....just a little something Sam.

I checked out 422 pages from the National Register of Historic places, not on there yet. Not Helen Keller homestead, or Walton's, and many other names I tried. Tried types of homesteads/farms that would be unique.

Looks like it could be in OH, IN, ID, NE, TX, OK....my guesses......which would cover a couple of the Federal Land States as Randy has suggested.

Wow Thanks Frank, that was an interesting piece of history, I really enjoyed reading about this place.

Thanks, Linda. Here's another view of the field that you can pan and zoom in. It's pretty typical of the times that I've been there, with some people walking around the outfield and some playing ball on the infield.

Frank, that is a great link, I enjoyed that tour....I will never forget this location thanks to you! How lucky you were to have something like this in your own back yard, so to speak. Beautiful country.

This was really cool. Thanks for the story.
