Midwest Auto Salvage on Oak ST. and U.S. Route 45 south of Ludlow Il, looking NE. Back when Chanute AFB was in operation this place was very busy. I used to frequent it quite a bit back on the late 70's and into the 80's. With the operational down sizing of Chanute in the late 80's (and eventual closure) and the salvage yard owner (Dave?) having been diagnosed with brain cancer (?) the site eventually ceased normal operations not long after. I remember Dave(?) having a fondness for Corvairs and there were quite a few there. One row of grain bins in the back ground on CR 1750E were still standing the last time I was through there. The screen for the drive in was still standing for many years after the closure but from what I can tell, only part of it is still there, mostly obscured by trees.

My family owned it my father's name was Don not Dave and he died from leukemia we closed it down in the mid 90s we still own the ground
