The sign reads, "Howland's Super Mart"

Can't remember if it was Howland's Super Mart or Howland Super Mart when I was a kid. In the mid 1960s, when the weather was nice, my mom used to walk here with my little sister and me to do the grocery shopping. She had one of those grocery carts made out of heavy wire, with 2 wheels, that could fit 2 bags side-by-side with 2 more on top sticking out a little. She also worked there as a cashier for a short time in the early 1970s. The store burned down later in the 1970s under suspicious circumstances and was eventually rebuilt as Nix's Meat Packing. It has long since been remodeled and was turned into a furniture store. I believe it has been completely remodeled again and is currently a flooring store.

Standard service station, 840 West Rollins Road, Round Lake Beach, Illinois. View looks north. Brentwood Drive is seen along the left edge of the photo. The station still stands, albeit as a Marathon gas station and C-store. I have placed the pin in the correct location.

Actually almost 2 years ago it became some independent station, SNK.
