This standard station is located on northwest corner of Lake st. and Rt. 120 in Grayslake. It has since been removed and the location is now a sitting park. The garage building behind it is now an apartment building. The houses behind that are all still standing.

I remember my dad getting gas there when the pumps had the glass globes on the side. You could watch the globes fill with gas as you heard the pumps counter click as it you gassed up your car. That was the day when they sold "regular" and "ethyl".

The building behind it was “Herbes Plumbing “The apartments were built later to the left(west) out in to the lake. The gas station was run by Don Cannon

Don Cannon's son is my best friend.

Bernie Tonyan lived in the green house behind Herbes plumbing. GCHS class of 1966

A Standard service station, West Belvidere Road, Illinois State Route 120, and South Lake Street, Grayslake, Illinois. View looks north. Per Google Street View, the building lasted until, at least, July of 2012. Today, this is Park on South Lake Street. Note the BULKO station across Illinois 120!!
