Pistakee golf course. Bay road
The Pistakee Country Club is located at 815 Bay Rd., McHenry at the Cuhlman Rd. intersection. The Pistakee Golf Club opened on May 30, 1924 on the Stock farm located near the southeast shore of Pistakee Lake. In October 1928, the Pistakee Yacht Club organized a golf club for the enjoyment of its members to play on the course. Membership was offered to resort owners located around Pistakee Bay of which there were about 75 members, while the course was still being developed. In 1933, the Pistakee Bay Golf Course failed and it was purchased by William R. Skidmore in June 1934. He purchased the George Sayer farm and the 222 acres Stock farm that included the golf course.
In November 1950, Anthony Malpede and his wife, Mary, purchased the Pistakee Golf Course from Fred Rembold. Anthony died in 1955 and Mary owned the property through the mid-1970s. Sometime after that, the ownership changed and the name was changed to the Pistakee Country Club.
