Old Johnsburg Rescue squad, now Johnsburg police Dept. house on right is now BP gas station. Chapel Hill Road south of Johnsburg Road, Johnsburg Illinois

Johnsburg had it first organized fire department when in 1954 the McHenry Township Fire Protection District, Station No. 2 (far left) was established. In 1963, it moved from a rented building to a new station at 3605 N. Chapel Hill Rd. The fire department built a new facility on Johnsburg Rd. in 1990. Roger and Anne Liston, owners of Prem Magentics purchased the vacated fire house and converted it to a day care center primarily for the company's employees which open in 1993. In 2006, the half of the building was occupied by Now Hair This Salon and in 2009, Jubilee Lutheran Church occupied the other half.

Tom Huemann Water Conditioning company (center) held a grand opening in August 1976 at the 3607 N. Chapel Hill Rd. location (partial seen lower far right). His company started in 1964. In 1962, Trans-Coil Industries, Inc. occupied the building followed by Werner Schilling (interior remodeling) in 1968. In 1976, Dodge Plumbing and Heating also occupied the facility. Currently, Mike's Brass & Woodwind occupy one of the spaces facing Chapel Hill Rd. Huemann Water Conditioning is located in a building on the back lot of the property.

The Johnsburg Rescue Squad (right) is located at 3611 N. Chapel Hill Rd. It was organized in 1952 with Jerry Hetermann as chief. In 1990, the Johnsburg Rescue Squad merged with the McHenry Township Fire Protection District, Station No. 2 and the building was planned to be sold. About 1992, plans were made for the building to become the new home of the Johnsburg Public Safety building and houses Police Department today.
