This photo was taken the summer before my parents bought the property and we moved in (Dec 1966) When we finally sold it (1991) the house, garage and most of the barn still stood. The house was built as a hotel for a long since dead town called Wilksbourgh (established 1836)and served the stagecoach stop which was locate across the road - where the clump of trees is on the right hand side. The driveway was said to have been one of the streets of the town and still carried a name although I never heard what the name was. The road which crosses the railroad tracks in the upper part of the picture was Hickory Ridge Road and was where the one room school house was located at one time. That one room school house and this house are all that still remain of the town although the school house has been moved to another location.
