This was formerly the Pleasant Hill School, part of the old Stephenson County District 70. The school was located at the southwest corner of Range and Unity roads. This was one of four schools in the county named Pleasant Hill; the others were located near Dakota, Orangeville and Freeport.

The school operated through approximately the 1950-51 school year. The school was unused for about 6 years before being sold. The June 3, 1957 edition of the Freeport Journal-Standard reported that the school had been sold at auction on June 1st to M.J. and Blanche Richards of Rockford for $425.

A photo of the school as it was in 1918 is archived on the Lena-Winslow school district website:

These photos originated from a 1918-19 Stephenson County school directory. It contained photos of each school, along with the names of teachers and school board members.
