This is the Alvin High School. Built in 1919. Colors orange and black. Known as the Pirates. My mother taught there in 1929 to 1935 when she got married. Then came back and taught half time during WWII. After the high school district was consolidated into the Rossville system, the building then became the Alvin Consolidated Grade School, until it too, joined the Rossville district. The building has since been torn down. It became the shelter for residents who lost homes in the tornado of March 16, 1942.
