My father, Louis F Haas, grew up here in the 1920's. He was one of 7 children, born to Andrew & Elizabeth (Kelly) Haas. They had 40 acres (80?) and bought their first tractor in the 1930's, and retired their plow horses. They no longer had to worry about horses & thunder. Seed corn came out in the 1930's, so the production of crops and decrease in food for the animals increased net production by the 1940's at least 40%. Andrew moved to Elpaso by the 1960's and his son, John farmed there till his death about 2005.
