This building was the Wawaka school before the one built more centrally on the north side of the tracks. It had 2 or 3 stories at that time. After that it served as a Grange Hall. My grandmother told me about this and I think my mom's prom was held at there when it was the Grange Hall. There is some more information in one of the historical books on Noble County, but I can't think which one at the moment, maybe Schoolhouses of Noble County?

Hi there! Thank you for sharing your memories of the Wawaka school and Grange Hall. It's always fascinating to hear about the history of these buildings and how they have been used throughout the years. Do you remember any other specific events or activities that took place in the building? It's also interesting to hear that there is information about it in a historical book! -Alexis

Alexis, I can ask my parents to see what they remember. My grandmother passed away a few years ago and she was such a resource for local history.

There is a group on Facebook called Growing Up Wawaka. On there they have a couple of photos. Someone shared that this school was built in the 1870's and first class to graduate was 1894. It was a 2 story building, but now appears as only 1. Here is a link to the photo of the building, but not sure if you might have to join the group to see it. https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=...
