In 1975 this farm was owned by Fred & Elsie Carstensen who lived a half mile away. Elsie was first married to Freddie Schroeder and they lived in this home. Then Freddie passed away in 1944 at the young age of 29 in this house. Their son, Wayne Schroeder, was but a few months old. So Freddie's parents (Fred & Adela (Marquardt) Schroeder) actually sold their farm south of Schleswig and moved in with Elsie to help following their own child's death. Elsie married Fred Carstensen a few years later. Wayne was married to Carolyn Neumann in 1965. It was long afterward that they moved into this home which eventually became theirs and where they raised 6 children. Wayne passed away in 2006, but Carolyn still resides here to this day.
