Northwest corner of the I-35/1st Street interchange in Ankeny. Much different look now: the only building still standing is the restaurant, which is now the Cazador, and attached to a hotel (now Days Inn) that wasn’t built yet. The fire station is where Brookfield Plaza is now, and another hotel -- now Comfort Inn -- and the Ashbrooke apartment complex was built in the field to the north. Even the interchange itself was reconstructed in 2019-2020.
