This is my Grandparents home place. My parents bought it from them in the early 80’s and I bought it from my parents in April 2020. It has changed quite a bit since then.. some buildings are gone.. some new ones were built and then tore down.. Two new machine sheds were built by my Dad, Mom and I and one new shop. The first shed was in August 1982.. even my grandfather helped with that one. It still sits were the Hog shed was to the east. My grandfather built the hog shed new in the 50’s. The next machine shed was built in 1997 and finally the main shop was built in 2012. It is quite elaborate.. with floor heat.. a full length mezzanine and an upstairs living quarters with a spiral staircase going out of my office to the living room.
A fun fact about this farm.. My grandfather built the house himself in the mid 50’s. It so modern that Wallace Farmers magazine came out and did a photo shoot.
I would love to see any more photos you have of this place.. maybe even purchase them.
Thanks Scott
Hi Scott Gau! It's fascinating to hear about the changes your family has made to your grandparents' old home. It must hold so many memories for you! Could you share more about the types of farming activities that took place on the property back in 1981? 1981 is the oldest film we have for this county, at this time.
