Corner of the Fort Road and Burlock Road in Presque Isle. Jim Dyer lives here now. Evette Dolling developed this corner for house lots in the 70s.
My husband and I bought this property, called The Merritt Farm, in 1972 and have lived here ever since. All the outbuildings are gone and also all the elm trees except for the one in the middle on the front by the road. The tree is over 100 years old now. The fields above are all wooded and there are homes built up along the Burlock Road on the side. The granddaughter of the gentleman who built our house is a dear friend of mine and will e-mail this site to her. A gentleman drove in our yard years ago with a trunkful of pictures for sale but we decided at the time not to purchase one. Now we know who he was representing!
the rubble on the right side of this photo is where the Merritt School was. It was a one room school hour for kids to go to school. My McPherson relatives (my dad & siblings) went to school there 1st to 8th grade, then Cunningham High School in PI is where they went afterwards.
