I remember when this picture was taken and it was before 1965 but I'm not sure just what year, but in the 1960's
We have lived here since November 1955 and the barn was torn down and a garage built nearer the house in 1989when Jimmy had retired. A small barn is behind the garage built with the old barn boards. We added on the living room and around the back end with a bedroom. Then we tore off the shed and built a nice entry way. I think the little house was built in 1961 for Boyd Roope by Percy Eaton. Boyd lived there till he died in 1964 which was after this picture was taken. On our Deed it says this farm belonged to Birds who owned the Dicker Place and I think all the land between these places. A Lew McPherson owned this place before Oscar and gave a rod of his land to the schoolhouse when they built the new school as they didn't have enough land to build on while the old school was standing. A Miss West was the teacher. Sister to Sid West. Oscar Sinclair lived here and had a barrel factory in the barn. After that my Dad's uncle Phil McPherson lived there and Dad lived with him when he was of teen age so It would have been in the 1920's. Minot Bird, Son of the owner of the Bird property became my great uncle by marriage and he was in the Swan Back Chapman murder story and he was one of the teen agers who escaped in their stocking feet. So there are a lot of family connections here. Notice the garden planted and tended by Grampie Boyd.
