I grew up on this farm... My family moved there in May of 1948... the farm is still in the family.. East Chapman, Maine.
At the time of the photo, it was a dairy farm with Holstein cattle and also sheep farm with Cheviots, Suffolk, Polled Dorset sheep. There were also pigs, chickens, rabbits, etc. Note the large garden behind the house... Mom raised and canned most of the vegetables used by the family.
The barn is gone now and replaced by a large machine garage.. Out buildings for sheep and chickens are also gone. Many landscaping trees were planted over the years and have matured into very attractive windbreaks. The place looks very different now.

This is the Fernald and Hazel Garland farm.

Best vacation times there! Lots of love and fun!!

I enjoyed working and living there through my youth. My high school years were spent using the little cabin in left lower part of photo as my bedroom. Helped to fill that big barn with hay many years. Life was wonderful. I was there from 1948 until going to college in 1966. Many great visits. Now it is just the house, cabin, and a new garage/workshop where the barn is in the picture.
