Ray Riggs chicken farm

As Pam mentioned above, this is the intersection of US-202 and ME-137, at the end of China Village in China, ME. Today US-202 would be just out of the bottom of the picture, turning right and heading towards the town of Albion. ME-137 now comes from a bypass that was built in the late 60s/early 70s (the end of Lakeview Drive) and continues north along the Waterville Road, which goes towards the right side of this picture. Main Street, which is in front of the house, is no longer a state highway as the bypass removed the need to pass through the densely populated area.

This home is 3 Main Street, and according to Brian above was the Ray Riggs chicken farm. The house, its ells, and the attached barn (and open-air shed) all stand today, and look much the same as in this photo except for the front stairs, which lost the side walls between 2018 and 2022. The garage building behind the house and two story chicken barn were demolished before 2000, and the long single-story barn near the garage was demolished between 2007 and 2011.
