Old Page Farm - Burlington

Built in 1829 by Caleb Page (1774-1852) and his sons Samuel Page (1808-1891) and Philip Page (1809-1883), some of the earliest settlers of Burlington. This was in the Page family until the mid 1980's, last owned by Norman Page (1930-2014), my father. The large field in back produced blueberries in the 20th century.

Hi Lorri!
It's always fascinating to learn about the families and stories behind the buildings in our aerial photos. Do you happen to have any memories of this property from when you were growing up in the area? Or maybe you could tell us more about what the area was like in the 1960s when this photo was taken?

So many memories, mostly of the interior of the house itself. I was a child in the 80s, and we spent summers at the farm, and raked blueberries in August. There is another barn with a windmill across the street, not pictured, that was part of the farm as well. The buildings between the farmhouse and the furthest barn on the right have fallen down now. The flat section between the house and the big barn included a multi seat outhouse for farm workers. Above the kitchen was a large ward style bedroom with cots for the farm workers, and that room was separated from the main house by a tiny little door about 2'x3', which was so much fun for us kids. There was a vintage cathedral style wall phone that was still a party line in the early 80s. We had our own ring! The farmhouse is being lovingly restored by a couple we are lucky to call friends. I have photos of the farm from around 1910 if you want to email me privately.
