This Cape Caod house belonged to my neighbor, Mr. & Mrs. Leigh Porter. Their daughter, Josephine Chase resides there now. The house dates back to the 1820s and was at one time an orphanage. The barn across the road (to the right) was torn down some time in the early 1970s. The house in the right corner of the picture was the home of Mr. & Mrs. Russell Allen. Mrs. (Mildred) Allen was a nurse at Redington Fairview General Hospital. I remember hearing as a child that original building was a gas station back in the 1920s, but I've never verified this. These properties are located on Rte 201 S, Skowhegan, Maine.

This was the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Leigh Porter when I was growing up. The house was built back in the 1820s and was, at one time, an orphanage. Their daughter, Ms. Josephine Chase, resides their now. The barn across the road (in right of photo) was still standing when I was a toddler (early 70s), but was torn down shortly thereafter. The house on the right was the home of Mr. & Mrs. Russell Allen and family. I was once told that the building was originally a garage / gas station back in the 1920s. I've never verified that fact, however. Mrs. Mildred Allen was a nurse at Redington Fairview General Hospital for years.
