The Boyd House. Built on RT Schaeffer Farm. The 5 daughters now own the house.

Hi Christopher D Moore! Thank you for sharing that interesting information about the Boyd House on RT Schaeffer Farm. It's fascinating to hear about the 5 daughters who currently own the house. Do you happen to remember any details about what the area was like in Montgomery County back in 1973? We'd love to hear more about your memories or any changes you've noticed since then.

In 1973 the area was still fairly undeveloped. The original Schaeffer farm house, which stood on Hawkes Road, which was adjacent to Piedmont road where this house stands, had just burned down. But the barn still stood until the mid 80's. The land the farmhouse was on was sold to Meadow's farm nursury which still operates there today. If you go to the nursery, you can stiill see the old silo and sheep barn standing in the rear of the nursery. The rest of the farm was sold to Elm Street developers in the late 90's. Elm street constructed large homes one 2 acre sites starting in the early 2000's. The Moore house was built on the west side of the farm in 1991. That is where I live today with one of the daughters. The Schaeffer farm flanked the Tregoning farm on the west side. That land was sold in the early 2000's and was developed by Elm Street as well. There is a beautiful sunflower farm across the street from this home, which hold several events during the year. The area is still a mix of rural and cluster homes.
