This was built in either the 30's or the 40's. I know that Hattie and Fred Van Allen owned it for awhile. Also John and Marie Martin owned it. Then Bill & Marie Cain bought it and ran it for years. Bill Cain was my husband's Grandfather. My husband's name is also Bill Cain, Sterling, Michigan. Marie Cain sold it to Jack & Mary Johnson. Jack tore it down and put up a new building and called the J & M Party Store. Both passed away and a man named Darrel got it but has let it go back to Mary's Family. At this point the store is closed which is devastating to all in the neighborhood. It was a quick trip to pick up a loaf of bread, milk or anything else you might need including gas.
