The small building sitting by itself on the north side of US 12 was originally the creamery for the farm. It was purchased in the 1950's by E.T. Drier Jr., and he opened the building as a satellite store for Drier's Meat Market. I began working there in 1969, and would ride my bike to work from town. We were open 11 to 6 Tuesday thru Friday, and 9 to 6 on Saturday and Sunday. Customers included Red Bud riders, patients of the Galien Dr. O'Malley, Notre Dame football attendees (including Mayor Richard J. Daley), second home weekenders from the suburbs going to their cottages in Cass, Vandalia, Jones, and Three Rivers, and the regular passersby. My friend Doug and I grew up working there, and Mr. Drier would chart our height on one of the door frames. Years later, we looked at the markings, and next to the measurements were the initials 'SO'. To this day, we can't remember if that meant "Shoes On" or "Shoes Off". Note also in the picture that there are not homes in the eastern most street in Three Oaks, Tulip Drive. Many have been added since 1971.
