Haven Hills Farm Albion MI.

My Grandparents ran the farm when I was a child! Have very fond memories!

Haven Hills Farms, Inc. Pure Guernsey Milk! Albion, Michigan. Started by Belle and George E. Dean.
I lived there from age 2 to 10 (1964-1972) with my mom Carol, grandparents Wallace and Louise Anderson, and aunt Kris and uncles Doug, Dave, and Leonard. My grandfather was the manager from 1929-1969. A lot of acreage to roam about as a young child! There were Holstein dairy cows at that time, along with many calves. It was a full milking and farming operation. Grandpa farmed the land and oversaw the milking of the herd. My Uncle Doug was a frequent helper with both. There were many additional farm workers, some of whom lived in the 1st house as you come up the long driveway from Haven Road across from Victory Park. We lived in the 2nd house.
Unfortunately, after my grandfather's death in 1969, the farm began to go downhill and eventually the herd was auctioned off as well as the farm equipment. We all moved on with our lives. In 1991 the bull barn pictured with the fences to the back burned to the ground after an Amish crew accidentally started a fire while dismantling the barns. Now all that is left are the two houses and the milk house as well as the covered walkway that went from main barn to heifer/calf barn. Helen and Paul Ewbank were the owners then. So many good memories!
