Nelson Apple Orchard and Mill

I visited Nelson's Apple Orchard as a kid when I lived in Ionia, Michigan, from roughly 1970-1976.
I went to Rather Elementary School on Tuttle Road in Ionia. I had a kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Nelson, at Rather. I believe she was somehow affiliated/connected to the orchard. If anyone knows if I might be correct, or even if I might be wrong, I would like to hear about that. I live in Haslett, near Lansing, now, but like visiting Ionia whenever I can, including going to the Ionia Free Fair, and Wizard of Oz Festival. Thank you- Anis Ahmed

Hello Meta and Anis,

What a surprise to see this image. I'm Henry Karl Nelson, son of Henry T Nelson and Marian D Nelson, Owner's of "Nelson's Welcome Orchard". Established 1959. This picture was taken sometime in the early to mid 60's.
You probably rode a wagon drawn by a 1952 John Deere AR, I can't tell you how many kids from surrounding schools came to our farm. They would have a ride through the orchard, picked an apple from the tree, come back to the Market for a glass of Cider and an Applesauce Donut.

I could go on and on. My parents were the most wonderful hard working people you could ever meet!!

Thank you for your interest!!

By the way, I first went to Emerson and when Rather opened, I transferred, was in 4th grade, Mrs. Harwood.
