Benjamin Henderson Farm. Shown on the 1874 Atlas as owned by Benjamin Henderson, who owned property on the east and west sides of Lake George Road. Originally also had a sawmill on site. The property eventually passed to Henderson's son, Benjamin F. Henderson, who is shown on the 1915 and 1921 atlases as owning the property. After Ben F. Henderson and his wife, Cora, divorced in 1907, Chloe Butler (former wife of Levant Carter) moved in and essentially became Ben's "common law" wife. They are buried together in South Attica Cemetery with a headstone that simply says "Ben" and "Chloe" - no last names or dates.
Interesting note: The four-square house on the right appears old - like circa 1910 - but was not at that location until after 1967. It must have been moved there sometime between 1967 and 1982. Maybe when the expressway was put in? If anyone knows, please share!
