Home of Joe and Linda Jonseck, between the s-curves on Stony Lake Road. Previously owned by the Hoekengas, Cozarts, the Johnson's, and Louis Schmedeknecht. Jean and my mother Lois Bruening Mills were born a day apart and grew up across the field from each other. When our house burned at Christmas of 1968, us little kids spent the night at this house. I think Johnson's owned it then. I was four and I remember standing on the toilet seat looking out a north window and watching the house burn. Incidentally, the small barn in the middle is half of Mitchell's Hall, moved from its original location on Cleveland Road. Louis Schmed got half, and my grandfather got half, but he never moved his half. The ruins of it are still there on Cleveland, west of 50th Ave.
