I grew up here.. 1296 s m-33. My grandfather owned the 80 acres around it. IN the 60's and 70's there was a huge red barn right where VA lettering is in the picture.
The farm was most likely a hundred years old, 80+ acreΓ’Βs, there were two houses on it, a huge red barn to the south, a pig barn to the west, a three car tool shed in front of the pig barn, a stand alone corn crib, a single car garage, and a chicken coop behind what was called Γ’Βthe little houseΓ’Β (thatΓ’Βs where grandpa lived). The big house was three stories high, four if you included the basement, white, 7 or 8 bedrooms an upper and lower front porches on the front, enormous concrete pillars held up that upper front porch.
It was a rather unique house as I remember it. It had copper ceilings in the kitchen, living room, and dining room. That was back in the day when families and neighbors were close. Not so much the neighbors, at least not physically. Our nearest neighbor was across the street, M-33. As I recall, M-33 was a short drive, even from where the house sat.
Children could play all day and never cross the path twice. It was the best years of our lives growing up there.
