This is Turkey Hill Farm. The land was originally purchased by Menno Esch in 1902 from a lumber company that had clear-cut the area, and has been in the family ever since. It is currently owned and operated as a crop and beef operation by John and Linda Esch. It was a working dairy farm, until 2013 when the dairy herd was sold. In July 1995 lightening struck the large barn and set it on fire. Though the herd was saved, the barn was a total loss. With the help of the community, a new barn was built that fall, and the milking herd returned home in November. Menno and his wife, Nettie, raised 9 children here. John's parents, Ira and Velma Esch, raised 7, and John and Linda, another 9. There's always been plenty of work, and plenty of hands to do it!
