Man, it's pretty strange seeing this photo. It was taken eight years before I was born, and although so much has changed over the years, this photo captures the essence of my home. From the machine shed that housed the combine that I used to ride in with my grandpa, the barn where the cows were housed, and where I worked during the summer bailing straw, the grainery where I always hid during games of hide and seek, and the circle where I would ride my bike for hours, this photo captures a moment in time where this farm was at its prime. I've lived here my whole life, but I only have vague memories of what this picture portrays. So many things have changed over the years: both houses have had additions built on, more trees have been planted, apple and walnut and a few evergreens, as others have fallen, even some of these building have been torn down, the fields have even changed to allow for better drainage, the barn reroofed and resided, garages have been built and rebuilt. That barn was actually built with timbers that were used in the construction of the original Blue Water Bridge. The history that is captured in this photo is unimaginable. The story of two brothers and their families, generations of farmers working the land, deep roots in the community, life and love, all stem from this place, from these two houses, from this home. All captured in a single moment. And for those that once, or still, call this home, or have fond memories of this place, this a breathtaking photo.
