Woodman Acres was homesteaded by Jonathan H. Woodman after the Civil War and his son Fred Woodman built the "new" house in the upper corner. It became a Centennial Farm before my grandfather, Warren Woodman, retired soon after this photo was taken. Their neighbors, the Hood Family, own the farm and run a commercial dairy operation today.
Hi JC,
Are any of the building photographed here still on the property? Did you ancestors raise cows on the property as well?
Yes, the larger house & barns are still n use. The smaller house, which was for the hired man, is long gone. My grandfather had cows but also had a grape vineyard north of the house & an orchard to the south. The Hoods have made many improvements since then.
