As a child (1970-80s), I would go visit Bertha in her house. She would lend me books to read. Her big willow tree on the southeast side of her property was a wonderful hiding place where I would go read. Our church, to the left, purchased the property after she passed away and her house was used for a fire demonstration at the beginning of the 1990s. All of the trees and out buildings were removed with my Dad's great gladness, and now, in the 2010s, a gym has been added to the church building in this area.
