My great-great grandfather, Peter Rodde, was born in 1861 in Norway. He came with his parents to America in 1865 and they settled in Goodhue County, Cherry Grove Township, MN on this 80 acre farm. Peter passed away in 1915, leaving his only son Alfred to care for the farm. Alfred's daughter, Aldora (my grandmother) was born in the farmhouse in 1922.
The barn was built in 1928. The cows had to be milked in another shed for a while while the barn was being constructed. Grandma and her siblings walked one mile to the north to the one room Cherry Grove school.
The farm is still in the Rodde family. Alfred's 2nd youngest daughter has lived on the farm almost all her life. Most of the buildings are still there.
