This was the Berg Family farm homesteaded around 1864. Originally there was a sod house built on the side of the hill heading down towards the creek. There was a spring in that area. The structure directly behind the main house are the remains of the log house, The "New House" was built in around 1913 for a cost of $5,000 of which $1000 was mortgaged. My Great Grandparents, Lars and Louise Berg were dairy farmers and distributed dairy products to customers in the area. They are buried in the Gol Lutheran Church cemetery. They had two children, Elmer and Gertrude who they sent to St Olaf college. Lars and Louise were the last to actually work the farm. There was am active sand and gravel pit that was mined for many years and was sold and used to help construct the nearby highway to Faribault. The Bergs owned this farm until approximately 2015. These Bergs are cousins to the Berghs who owned Bergh Pharmacy in Kenyon.
