Godfrey Swanson owed this farm, set on the shores of the Des Moines River. My parents moved here in 1946 when my dad got out of the Army. There was a mile long lane leading in from the gravel road. All 4 of their children were born while they lived here, and made many wonderful memories. My family moved out on Nov. 23, 1963, the day President Kennedy was shot. Another family lived here for several years after we moved. Since then, the place has been nearly completely obliterated, because it became a large gravel pit. It warms my heart to see this picture and Picture #1 in this film roll. Brings back many good memories.
