My family lived on this farmsite until I was seven years old. There was no running water in the house. You can see the outhouse in the back yard. I used to ride my bicycle around the circle singing songs.

My grandfather spent part of his childhood on this farm as well (at least until he was 11). My great-great-great grandfather, Hans Peder Carlson, bought the farmland around 1911, and his daughter and son-in-law Feea & Dan Pring likely homesteaded this farm about that time. They moved a few years later, after which this farm was rented to various families, including Bill Stevenson, the Ritters, and the Sternhagens (who were remembered for holding barn dances after prohibition ended in the 30's). My great-grandparents, Earl & Evelyn Carlson, farmed here from 1937 until 1947, when they moved a mile to the SW. After that, this farm was sold to Arthur Thompson, then Ralph Moffat & Edward Stocko, both of whom rented the farm to Wally Raasch in the 50's & 60's. In the 70's, this farm was owned by Allen & George Stuart, but the farm was vacant, and later completely razed in the 80's. My grandpa always called this the lone tree farm (self-explanatory), but clearly that had changed by the time this picture was taken.
