The Ben F. Boyers' Farm. I lived here from the late 70s to the early 80s.
Hi there! Thanks for sharing your memories of the Ben F. Boyers' Farm. We'd love to hear more about your time there. Can you recall any specific changes or developments in the area from the late 70s to the early 80s? Also, we're curious to know what kind of farming activities took place on the property during that period. Any interesting stories to share? Looking forward to hearing from you!
You don't realize until you are older, but those times are the best times, when you have a small farm like this. We had a nice garden that you can see in the photo. The building behind the old barn was the dog kennel. My grandpa, Ben, raised, trained and sold Australian Cattle dogs and Catahoula dogs for other farmers and ranchers. I don't recall having cattle, but we had horses (that were used to help train the cattle dogs). The bigger metal building/barn was were we kept hay and other supplies. The main house was were my Grandpa and Grandma stayed. We stayed in a secondary home that you can't see because of the tree in the backyard. I drove by about a month ago, and a lot has changed. The secondary house is gone, the main house has the carport closed in. The old barn is still standing, amazingly enough, but the metal barn and outside enclosed pen is gone. There is now a driveway going back past the house to another home behind it.
