This was my grandparents' farm. Elwyn "Doc" Meahl and Florence Vance Meahl. I grew up across the road, and lived there for several years, helping take care of my Grandma, and when I was first married. The barn, horse barn, and the "old house" which we used as a chicken coop and pigsty are all gone now. The main house and garage are all that remain.

My family lives here today.

This farm was my Grandparents' farm. They were Elwyn "Doc" Meahl and Florence Mae (nee Vance) Meahl. Prior to them owning it, the farm belonged to the Twiss family. LuDora Twiss married my Grandma's brother, Clayton "Shorty" Vance. My Grandpa was a farm hand on the Twiss farm, and presumably met my Grandma through her friendship with LuDora. My grandparents bought the farm from Floyd Twiss. My mother and aunt were raised on the farm. I lived there for a time as a child, and off and on through my 30's. The buildings have all been torn down except for the main house, the garage and the smokehouse. My family still owns the farm, and rent the house out. It bothers me greatly to see people living in "my house." I miss living there, and for me, it will always be "home.". Coincidentally, I was visiting my Grandma when the man came to show her this aerial photo many years ago when it was taken. I don't recall how much he wanted for the photo, but she was not interested in paying for a picture of her own house! She not so politely told him to leave...
