My family, Deemer's, lived in the big house for years. We sold Christmas trees for several years. My Dad, Alvin, was a mechanic and worked on cars in his spare time. I was told that the little house was a converted chicken coop. The Wayman's lived across the street. Bob had pigs and made apple cider. His sisters lived next to him. I had one of them tutor me in math. The Mallory dairy farm was next door. Perry had a white horse named Prince. He used to let us come over and see the calves. He used our barn to store his hay. He used the pasture on both sides. I remember numerous time of finding his cows in our yard. We went out to the back fields and picked wild strawberries and blackberries every year. So many great and loving memories in this house!!

Hi Karlin,

Thank you for sharing your wonderful memories of the Deemer house and the surrounding area! It sounds like you had a lovely childhood. What were some of your favorite Christmas tree varieties to sell? Have you visited the area recently? What changes have you noticed since the photo was taken?

Best,
Alexis
