Newt Oliver's Frostop

On West First Street across from Park Shopping Center

The original Rootbeer Stand

My parents would take us (6 children) there for very special treats of root beer and the BEST foot longs in the world. Haven't found one as good ever since. This area is now jammed with traffic, chain restaurants, Lowes and Meiers - the Bechtle Avenue Extension. Sad to see as all of this was built where a large farm once stood.

Loved going to the frost top! I remember doing the trampolines next door. This would be in the early 60's. Fun times and the best root beer ever

We loved going there and I can remember when our dad thought he'd take mom and us kids there for a "beer". We were in a VW Beetle and when the waitress went to prop the tray on the car window she missed and dumped all the root beer in to my dad's lap. Odd, but I can't remember anything AFTER that happened, but we often enjoyed the trampolines too! Such great times!!!

Dad worked at shell station across the street and I got to hangout there. Had my first peanut butter milk shake there. Bob Evans is there now. Root Beer stand was better.

We rode to the Frostop in the back of our neighbor's truck from out on Willow dale Road. Such a TREAT for my brother and me!

When was root beer stand build across from Reid middle school.

I went to Northwestern high went to that root beer stand alot,I believe it was owned and operated by one of the teachers at the high school.Newt Oliver. That was the name of the root beer stand.

At the right looks like this is when Bechtle Ave was being extend to the North. I think that took out the trampolines.
