Intersection of Ohio 87 (going upper left to lower right) and Auburn Road in Newbury Center. The large building shows "Longo's," which was an Italian restaurant that took over what used to be Prots Food Center and the Post Office. The "white" parking lot was fairly new, sitting where a house used to be. The house upper left was owned by Roger and Lou Casseday, who were longtime teachers for Newbury Schools. It eventually became a travel agency when the Cassedays moved elsewhere in the township.
Today it is Mangia Mangia
It was "Uncle Joe's" when Prots moved out for a while before it was Longo's. A smaller version of Ames or WalMart back then.
I've been told the former Casseday residence has been sold and will be razed for more parking space.
