In this area was my Uncle Isaac Howell and his family's farm. My mom's sister Marguerite Fitzgerald was Ike's wife. As a kid I spent some memorable days there...a wonderful respite for the city boy from Columbus. He sold the land to the coal mines and sadly this photo reveals all that was left after the strip mining.
I so wish the photos could go back in time farther to reveal their home, the old barn behind where their daughters, my cousins, set up a play house, all the crab apple trees, the old Howell house across the street, the barn, dairy building, chicken coop, etc.... in my minds eye I can see most everything, but was hoping for more.
Their home sat at the point ... the corner's of 29 Cadiz Fushing Rd and 254 the road to Jockey Hollow.
