The Fred Pitts farm in the NE corner of Rt 58 and Jones Rd (to the right side of photo), Wellington. The Pitts bought this farm in 1939 and operated it along with their original farm on Quarry Rd. Fred Pitts passed away in 1951 and Mrs Pitts and son Dorrell ran this farm. They grew all the hay and grain to feed their 40 head of Holstein dairy cows. The 170 acre farm was one of the county's newest in 1956. A mechanized cleaning system cleared the barn of manure and placed it on a spreader in minutes. It still looks great with more barns and silos.
Featured as Mystery Farm number 21 by the Wellington Enterprise on April 26, 1956. Search the Lorain County home page for "mystery" to see other farms.
