515 N. Main St.

O.R. Edgington Elementary, formerly Randolph Township High School, was built in 1921 and torn down in 2015.

I went to this elementary school.I always remember the enormous fountain with a basin in the bathroom for washing hands, the smell of pencil shavings, and elmer's paste (which I will admit to eating once)...I now live in Texas since 1980.I recall being ahead of the game at my new school for nearly two years based on what I took from O.R.I am 45 now and the building seemed old and mysterious even in 76-78. I wish I had come back home to take pics before it was gone.I won't lie, I am just finding this out and it is heartbreaking to me. I would think it would be considered a historical building and in my opinion, really deserved some protection. I will always remember my 2nd grade teacher, Mrs.Piercy. Every morning, she would start class with the following mantra, "Children are the worlds most valuable resource." She was stern and pulled me in the hall often to yell at me for being too chatty, and I could smell the coffee on her breath. She put me in an advanced reading circle and did little things to let me know she believed in me, though she terrified me with her piercing eyes and silver hair. Consequently, during the course of my attendance at that school- through the fourth grade, I went back to see her EVERY year during open house. I think of her to this day, and despite scaring the daylights out of me, I loved her.
