This house is now gone. I lived here from the time I was 5 to the time I was 13. There was no indoor plumbing, no phone, and we heated by oil and wood. By the time I went back to try and show my friends and now-husband, there was a huge gaping hole in the roof and mushrooms were growing on the floor in the upper bedroom. I loved this house. The tree on the left is where my swing was. There was an old tobacco barn that my dad half-tore down and burnt in the winter when the oil truck couldn't make it back the lane. He was put in jail for 86 days. When he left jail he was evicted. We went back once to clear out what we could of his few possessions. He's gone now, too. It lives only in my memory now. "My castle of the queens, so old and dusty..."
