Excellent photo! This is the Fairmount Children's Home. An article from 1875 stated that from the roof you could see the towns of Mt Union, Alliance, Beloit, Westville, Damascus and Salem! One article states the children rose up and hanged the headmaster in 1944 but I cannot find any evidence for this in period newspaper articles. The home was closed in 1976 and sold at auction. The old bell and all the records were donated to the Stark County Historical Society. The large building was destroyed by fire on December, 2002. The remains of some of the buildings are still there and one large house. The roadside stand is the start of Maplestone Ornamentals which is now closed and deteriorating. 6774 Union Ave.
