This is the what we called the “Rehrersburg Tavern”. Located across street from Altalaha Lutheran Church old cemetery at west end of Rehrersburg in time.
There were at least 3 units to building. In time period 1960’s the Eberly family lived on east end. There were 3 sons John, Wally, Bruce that we all played together. My Franklin and Alverta Billman family lived next to cemetery across road. In second floor west apartment Charles “Junior” and Grace Schucker lived there with children Ruth, Jimmy, Johnny. In lower floor west end apartment an elderly couple named Boyer? Later tenants were Zombro, East end and a elderly man and dog at lower west apartment.
In late 1960’s the big barn located on east side of house had caught fire and burned. Huge fire. Animals died. Homes, church, funeral home had to be watered down to prevent the fire from spreading.
Anson Gettle owed property. He had adult children Quentin (he had a printing shop close by on Airport Rd) and Doris.
