Great place for family picnics
My stepdad was a lifeguard there. He was born and raised beside the park. My parents still live beside it and now my son and his wife live at Uncle Tom's Park. It's so peaceful and still beautiful.
Uncle Tom's Park, Jerome, VA
Uncle Tom of Uncle Tom’s Park really was my uncle. Tom’s wife Lizzie was my great great aunt, sister to my great grandfather, Tobias Funkhouser, who also lived in Jerome.
I have great memories of our Funkhouser Family picnic reunions being held there. My Mother would always be sure to point out Aunt Lizzie and Uncle Tom sitting up on the big front porch. Dad loved the spring-fed swimming pool, but said it was the coldest water he’d ever swam in!!
Great family memories of a long-ago time.
Knew Howard Miller and his kids who were life guards in the 60's. Swan there while growing up in Mt Jackson. I'd like to know the date of this photo, No sliding board, snack stand or the old pavilion where they held dances and gatherings. The grassed in area to the left hand side of the pool was the kiddie section late 50's-60's. Last time there around 69 I think.
