This was the farmstead of Clarence and Florence Lubick for decades until Clarence passed in March 2007. Florence preceded him in death in September 1997. They were married 48 years. The estate was later purchased by their youngest son, John (Tina) Lubick. To date, most of the buildings remain and the several black walnut trees border the driveway. And, the American flag still flies on the pole in the front yard that Grandpa erected after this photo was taken.

As a very young city boy from Chicago, I have many fond memories visiting this farm. From the front porch swing, sitting around the fireplace in the winter nights, the occasional overnights, playing with my cousins during large family gatherings, Grandpa's huge garden, apple trees, Grandpa's homemade wine, baling hay on the steep hills (once), to the various cats and dogs that were always a bit hesitant of new faces. All of the farm animals had their place and purpose on Grandma and Grandpa's farm.

I recall Grandma and Grandpa raised large flocks of chickens for egg production for many years and always had a herd of beef cattle to maintain. This was considered a hobby farm since Grandpa worked outside of the home until he retired in the early 1980's. The farmstead was his full-time job during retirement.

I remember going for rides with Grandpa or Uncle John in the 1971 green Ford Galaxie 500 that is parked off the driveway in this photo.
